Fear - The Danger of Fearfulness: Part 6 of 9

Preview: This is the sixth part of a nine-part series of lessons entitled: FEAR.


Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:31-34, Matthew 26:57-58 & Matthew 26:69-75.

Memory Verse: Matthew 26:35.

1. Discuss the various sins from the foregoing Scriptures that fear will cause us to commit.
2. Will fear prevent us from being bold, effective witnesses? John 7:11-13 & John 12:42-43.
3. Will fear cause our hearts and minds to fail us? II Timothy 1:7 & Luke 21:25-26.
Note: This spirit of fear is not pleasing to God. He will give us a spirit of power and of a sound mind. Fear shows a lack of faith which is a sin!
4. What happens when the leaders fear the people more than they fear God? Exodus 32:21-26 & I Samuel 15:24.
Note: We see this in our leadership today. They try to please the people with compromises. Even parents, Christians, and Church leaders will be guilty of this if they take their eyes off of God.
5. What is said of a nation who forms an alliance with ungodly nations? Isaiah 8:9-13.
Note: For years this condition has been taking root in our country. We have seen it become more and more established under the guise of something good. Ungodly leaders are deceived and unaware of what they are doing. Ungodly citizens are confused and perplexed. What about the saints of God? Should they be afraid?
6. Should our hearts be troubled when these things come to pass? Should we be troubled by death? Psalm 46:1-3, Hebrews 2:14-15, Matthew 10:26-28 & Revelation 2:10.
7. What kind of witness and encouragement must God’s people be in times of trouble? Isaiah 35:3-5 & Romans 8:15-18.
8. Should we experience fearfulness when our love, faith, and fear are in God? Psalm 46:1-3, Psalm 46:8-11 & Proverbs 29:25.
9. What will our testimony be? Hebrews 13:5-6.
Note: There is no place for fearfulness in a spirit filled life.
