The Fruit of the Spirit Is Meekness: Part 11 of 13

Preview: An in-depth study of the fruits of the spirit. This is the eleventh lesson in a thirteen-part series on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Numbers 12:1-16.

Memory Verse: Psalm 25:9.

1. Discuss Moses’ spirit of meekness toward his critics in the foregoing Scriptures. Who do you believe was directing his attitude?
2. Did Jesus display a spirit of meekness? Matthew 11:28-30 & II Corinthians 10:1.
3. Did Jesus react with meekness to His indifferent disciples and Judas’ betrayal the night before His crucifixion? Matthew 26:21-25 & Matthew 26:34-50.
4. What was Jesus’ attitude toward His false accusers and those who put Him to death? Matthew 27:1-2, Matthew 27:11-14, Matthew 27:27, Matthew 27:31, Matthew 27:33-36 & Luke 23:33-34.
Note: The definition of meekness is to be humble, unassuming, long-suffering, and patient. These attributes are characteristic of the fruit of the spirit. While the world sees meekness as being weakness, they do not know that Moses and Jesus are declared to be the meekest of all men, yet they were the world’s strongest leaders.
5. Is a spirit of meekness essential for effective ministry and leadership? II Timothy 2:24-25, I Timothy 6:11-13, I Timothy 6:17-19 & I Peter 3:14-15.
6. What is God’s promise to the meek? Zephaniah 2:3, Psalm 149:4 & Matthew 5:5.
7. What will a right relationship with God cause one to do? Ephesians 4:1-3, James 1:4 & James 1:19-21.
8. How important is this fruit of the spirit in the work place? I Peter 2:18-21.
9. How will every spirit-filled Christian react when offenses come? Romans 12:14 & Romans 12:17-21.
10. Did Stephen display a spirit of meekness when he was being stoned to death? Acts 7:54-60.
Note: Sometimes it seems that no good deed goes unpunished, but God will direct and reward the just. Psalm 25:9.
