Preview: God directs the pathways of our lives. This is part two of a three-part lesson on this subject.
Scripture Reading: John 10:1-18.
Memory Verse: John 10:27.
1. Discuss the essential qualities of the Good Shepherd and the characteristics of sheep as described in the foregoing Scriptures. Explain your understanding of this comparison with Christ and His people.
2. What part does man play in becoming a spiritual sheep? Romans 10:9-10 & Psalm 32:1-11.
Note: The mercy and grace of God calls men to the sheepfold. His love enables all who will to become His spiritual sheep, but man’s responsibility is to submit to the shepherd.
3. Does God grant man the power to be submissive to Him when one receives Jesus as the Shepherd of his soul? Discuss. Psalm 27:1-4, Psalm 27:11, Psalm 27:14 & Isaiah 55:6-9.
4. What should those who are in the sheepfold anxious to share with others? Matthew 10:7-8, John 15:15-16, II Corinthians 5:18-21 & II Corinthians 6:1.
Note: Jesus did not invite us to enter the fold for our comfort and pleasure alone. He has commanded us to share this wonderful message of hope with a lost and dying world.
5. How did the newly bought Church respond to the great commission? John 14:12, Acts 5:12-15, Acts 5:26-35 & Acts 5:42.
6. How important is it that Christians seek godly fellowship? Psalm 1:1 & Proverbs 13:20.
7. How does our social life affect our relationship with God? I Corinthians 15:33-34, Ephesians 5:11-12 & Titus 1:15-16.
8. How will a spirit of greed and discontent separate us from godly living? Matthew 6:19-21 & Mark 8:34-36.
Note: The Christian life is truly one of self-sacrifice. We are commanded to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is only a reasonable requirement, because as Abraham set the example of Kingdom living, we also must be seeking a city whose Builder and Maker is God. Hebrews 11:8-10 & Hebrews 11:13-16.
9. What is promised to those who are willing to seek the Kingdom of God first? Luke 12:29-31 & Revelation 3:19-22.
10. Why should we pray for spiritual eyes and ears so that we may see and hear the wonderful things that God has prepared for the faithful? Psalm 119:18, Psalm 119:27, Isaiah 64:1, Isaiah 64:4 & I Corinthians 2:7-14.
Note: Only born again spiritual people are able to understand spiritual things.
