Preview: The reasons that Christ gave His life for us.

Pre-reading: I Corinthians 1:15-31 & Mark 10:17-31.

Scripture Reading: Romans 5:1-11.

Memory Verse: John 15:13.

1. Could we say, based on the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse, that God’s love for us put Jesus on the cross?
2. What could separate us from so great a love? Romans 8:3, Romans 8:32, Romans 8:34-39.
3. For what purpose did God give the life of His Son? II Corinthians 5:14-15, II Corinthians 5:19, II Corinthians 5:21, I John 4:10.
Note: It is difficult for our spiritual minds to comprehend a love so great. It is impossible for the natural mind to grasp. Let us study God’s Word and pray that He will enlighten our minds to believe and receive this truth.
4. Why was Jesus willing to give His life for us? Galatians 1:3-4, Ephesians 5:2, Ephesians 5:25-27.
5. How will it affect our lifestyle if we accept this great gift? Colossians 1:14, Colossians 1:20-22, Titus 2:11-14.
Note: The whole world will know that we are different. Man will take note that we have been with Jesus.
6. How was the Church bought? Acts 20:28, I Peter 1:18-20.
7. Why does He expect us to be living proof of His example? I Peter 2:21, I Peter 3:18, I Peter 4:1.
Note: It is not possible for the natural mind to experience this kind of unselfish love, and yet it is required of us if we are to reign with Him in eternity.
8. How can this possibly be accomplished? Romans 6:3-6, Galatians 2:20, I Corinthians 6:20.
9. How are we crucified with Christ? Galatians 5:24, Galatians 6:14.
Note: The natural man cannot please God. The only way we can abide with Him is to die to self. We must take up our cross (a symbol of death) and follow Him daily.
10. How did Jesus explain this? Matthew 10:37-39, Matthew 16:24-26, Mark 8:34.
