Preview: The seventh day Sabbath is the fourth Commandment of God. He is very specific about how we are to spend our day of rest.
Scripture Reading: Luke 23:50-56.
Memory Verse: Mark 15:42.
1. What instructions did God give to the early saints concerning the preparation for the Sabbath? Exodus 16:22-23.
2. What did the early Christians do on the Sabbath day? Why? Luke 23:56, Acts 16:13, Acts 17:2, Acts 18:4, & Acts 13:14 & Acts 13:42-44.
3. Should we command the members of our household and the strangers therein to observe the Sabbath? Exodus 20:10 & Deuteronomy 5:13-15.
4. How did God describe those who can hardly wait for the Sabbath to pass before they resume their business? Amos 8:4-11.
5. Is God pleased for us to transact business on the Sabbath day? Nehemiah 13:15-22.
6. Would it be lawful for farmers to violate God’s Law to harvest their crops? Exodus 34:21.
Note: God set the example of resting on the Sabbath after He created all things. We must follow His example and obey His Commandments if we want Him to be well pleased with us.
7. Is it lawful for us to help the needy on the Sabbath? Matthew 12:11-12.
8. Are we permitted to satisfy hunger on the Sabbath day? Matthew 12:1.
9. How did Christ observe the Sabbath? Luke 4:16 & Luke 4:31.
