How to Keep the Sabbath

Preview: As one of the Ten Commandments it is essential that we know how God intends for us to spend the Sabbath Day. It is a day devoted specifically for rest and devotion to the Lord, and must be observed as He set it out. Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:1-10.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 4:9.

1. What are we to remember each day? Exodus 20:8.
2. When should we begin and end the Sabbath? Leviticus 23:32.
Note: We should begin and end the Sabbath with prayer. Form this habit and God will bless you.
3. For whom did the Lord make the Sabbath? Mark 2:27.
4. How many days has the Lord given men to do their work? Exodus 16:26.
5. Should we buy and sell on the Sabbath? Nehemiah 13:15-19.
6. Should we pursue our business and pleasure on the Sabbath day? Isaiah 58:13-14.
7. What did the Lord say we would delight in if we do not do our own pleasures or business on the Holy Sabbath day? Isaiah 58:14.
8. Should children be allowed to play on the Holy Sabbath day? Proverbs 22:6.
Note: If children are trained to respect the Sabbath in refraining from their pleasures on the Sabbath day, they will have respect for it when they get older.
9. Should we work on the Sabbath day in harvest time? Exodus 34:21.
10. Did Jesus keep the Sabbath when He was on earth? Luke 4:16.
11. Is an act of mercy lawful on the Sabbath day? Matthew 12:10-13.
12. Is the Sabbath a sign for men? Ezekiel 20:20.
13. Will the Sabbath be kept in the new Heaven and new earth? Isaiah 66:22-23.
