Purity and Sanctification

Preview: How to gain the grace of God.


Scripture Reading: Titus 2:1-12.

Memory Verse: I Timothy 4:12.

1. List the requirements for pure living from the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse.
2. Why should we live a life of purity? Titus 2:13-15 & Matthew 5:8.
Note: Jesus Christ will return to set up His Kingdom and populate it with subjects who are pure in heart (sanctified, set apart), a peculiar people full of good works.
3. What message is taught and practiced by the true Church? Titus 3:1-8.
Note: Good works will not save us, only the grace of God can accomplish that. This same grace will produce in us a desire for purity and good works.
4. What is our part in receiving God’s grace and how does it work in us? James 4:5-10 & Proverbs 21:8.
Note: The natural nature (or spirit) of man is selfish, self-centered, proud, envious, judgmental, and critical of others, but the Spirit (or nature) that the grace of God produces in us is just the opposite of human nature. The only way we can receive this new nature is to humble ourselves, and resist the Devil by drawing close to God. He does not force us to seek or obey Him. We must make our own choice. If we choose Him, His grace enables us to live a pure life.
5. How will it affect our attitude toward God and others when we submit ourselves to His grace? James 4:11-17 & James 5:9.
6. How did the Psalmist describe those who submit themselves to God’s grace? Psalm 15:1-5.
7. What is the Church instructed to do when impure practices are found in the members? I Corinthians 5:1-7 & I Corinthians 5:9-13.
Note: God’s Word judges the Church. Those who have been called to leadership must not cover up sin in its members. It sickens the whole body of Christ.
8. What must the Church do if the offender confesses and forsakes his sin? Galatians 6:1-3 & Ephesians 4:31-32.
9. How pure must the spiritual leaders and their families be? I Timothy 3:1-13.
10. What kind of thinking should prevail in Kingdom heirs? Titus 1:15 & Philippians 4:8.
Note: The pure in heart will dwell on pure thoughts.
