Preview: What does it mean to be born again?
Scripture Reading: John 3:3-21.
Memory Verse: I Peter 1:23.
1. Do we understand from the foregoing Scriptures that we are born again when we put our faith in God and accept Christ Jesus as our Savior?
Note: Flesh and blood, which is the natural man, cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. Only a spiritual being can receive eternal life.
2. Who is the Father of the second birth? Romans 8:10-14, Romans 8:16-18 & I Peter 1:23.
3. How are we begotten by our spiritual Father? James 1:18.
Note: There can be no new birth apart from the Word of Truth. Many men and women who are highly educated in theology believe and teach that truth has been lost through translations; but Christ promised a Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, that would reveal all truth to God’s born again children.
4. How did Paul answer the skeptics in his day? I Corinthians 4:1-7.
5. Did the prophets foretell the new birth? Jeremiah 31:31-33 & Ezekiel 36:26-27.
6. Must our old human nature die in order to receive the new birth? Galatians 2:20-21 & Romans 6:9-18.
7. Does the new birth mean that we have just been repaired, or do we become a new creation in Christ? II Corinthians 5:17-21, Ephesians 4:17 & Ephesians 4:21-24.
8. Can man accomplish this transformation on his own? Ephesians 2:4-10 & Colossians 1:12-14.
9. Will an understanding of this gift from God make us humble and patient toward those who do not know Him? Titus 3:1-7.
10. Must God’s children guard and protect this precious gift of life? Hebrews 10:9, Hebrews 10:16-26 & I John 3:1-10.
Note: The litmus test of our new birth is that we stop sinning and have an unconditional love for our brother and our Savior.
