God's Laws Pertaining to Immorality

Preview: This lesson is a guide to the laws of the Bible. Since the Bible is the foundation of the legal system of all civilized nations, it is very important that matters concerning the laws be understood.


Scripture Reading: Leviticus 20:10-12.

Memory Verse: Exodus 20:14.

1. Did breaking the seventh Commandment carry a death penalty according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse? Discuss.
2. What does the seventh Commandment forbid? Exodus 20:14.
3. How serious was this crime and its punishment? Deuteronomy 5:18, Deuteronomy 22:22-24, I Corinthians 6:9, Hebrews 13:4, James 4:4, Revelation 22:15.
Note: Adultery and fornication have a two-fold meaning:
          A. Natural, which is sexual unfaithfulness and impurity.
          B. Spiritual, which is unfaithfulness to God or idolatry.
Ephesians 5:25-32 tells us that the love and relationship between a man and his wife is a human depiction of the love and relationship between Christ and His people (the Church). No wonder Satan is working so faithfully to destroy marriage and homes. It is a direct assault against Christ and the Church.

5. What are God’s Laws pertaining to sodomy and its punishment? Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13.

7. What causes this sin? Romans 1:21-23, Romans 1:28-32.
8. What was the prevalent sin of Sodom and Gomorrah? Genesis 18:20-21, Genesis 19:1-9.
9. What are God’s Laws concerning bestiality and its punishment? Leviticus 18:23, Leviticus 20:15-16, Exodus 22:19, Deuteronomy 27:21.
10. What did God say about rape and its punishment? Exodus 22:16-17, Deuteronomy 22:23-29.
11. How important is moral purity to our salvation? Why? I Corinthians 5:1-2, I Corinthians 5:11-13, I Corinthians 3:16-17, I Corinthians 6:18, Ephesians 5:3-6.
Note: In this age of Satan’s “New Morality” we cannot stress too much God’s everlasting laws and judgment concerning immorality.
