Preview: How we know that we are saved. 


Scripture Reading: II Peter 1:1-11. 

Memory Verse: II Corinthians 7:1. 

1. Must we first have faith in God and His promises before we can start to grow spiritually according to the foregoing Scriptures? Discuss.
Note: Many people spend their lives struggling to please God on their own good morals and merits. They are never sure whether their good deeds will outweigh the bad. They end their days in fear because they do not know for sure whether or not they are prepared to meet God. 
2. What was Peter’s salvation message to the people on the day of Pentecost? Acts 2:36-42. 
3. What was Paul’s salvation message to the jailer? Acts 16:25-34. 
Note: Once these people heard the Gospel of Christ and His promise of Salvation, they eagerly believed and accepted it. They repented of their sin and remained steadfast in their faith and devotion. 
4. What must we believe with in order to find the Almighty, never-failing God? Deuteronomy 4:29, Deuteronomy 4:39-40, Hebrews 11:6. 
5. Why must we repent our sins in order to seek God? Luke 13:1-5, Luke 24:36, Luke 24:44-47, Acts 17:30-31. 
6. Why must we know God’s Word before we can believe in Him and be sorry for our sins? Joshua 1:8, Acts 20:32, Romans 10:1-3, Romans 10:8-10, Romans 10:13-14, Romans 10:17. 
7. Who is able to understand and obey the Word if they don’t have God’s Holy Spirit? Romans 8:1-4, Romans 8:8-17. 
8. For what purpose did Jesus live and die? Luke 19:10, I Timothy 1:15, Hebrews 2:9, Hebrews 2:14-18, Hebrews 3:14-15. 
Note: Through Adam all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus came to earth as a man and proved that mankind, who was born of God’s Spirit, can live above sin. Only through faith will we commit our lives to God. He will give us a new heart and the obedient mind of Christ. Christ paid the penalty for our sin when He died on the cross in our place. 
9. How did Jesus explain our salvation? John 5:24-30. 
10. Can we continue to practice sin and be in fellowship with God and His Son? Discuss. I John 2:3-6, I John 2:15-17, I John 2:25, I John 2:28-29. 
11. How can we know for sure that we have eternal life? I John 3:14, I John 3:23-24, Ephesians 4:21-32, I Timothy 4:6-8. 
Note: Because God is faithful to His promise, those who put their trust in Him and walk in His way cannot fail. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His Commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13.
