Preview: The Bible defines the various names by which the children of the Lord go, and how they are chosen.

Scripture Reading: Genesis 32:24-32.

Memory Verse: Genesis 32:28.

1. Why did the Lord change the name of Jacob? Genesis 32:28.
2. Did the Lord speak to Jacob a second time in regard to his name? Why? Genesis 35:9-10.
Note: By this we learn where the name Israel originated and why. All who have prevailed with God become an Israelite and will inherit the promises God made to Jacob.
3. How do we know the Hebrew children in Egyptian bondage were considered to be Israelites? Exodus 5:1-2.
4. What did Pharaoh call the Hebrews when they fled? Exodus 14:5.
5. Whose power did the Egyptians witness blessing the Israelites? Exodus 14:25.
6. How did God save the Israelites, the Hebrew children, in the days of Pharaoh? Exodus 14:27-30.
7. What did God consider the Israelite people to be? Deuteronomy 7:6.
8. How large was the Israelite tribe amongst the other tribes? Did God choose them because they were many? Deuteronomy 7:7.
9. Through whose lineage did our Savior come? Romans 9:4-5.
10. Are all Israelites those who are born of Israel? Why? Romans 9:6.
11. Are all Israelites those who are called Israelites? What makes them Israelites? Romans 9:7.
12. Who are the real children of God? Romans 9:8.
Note: Only those who live by the promises, the Word of God, are children of God; regardless of what their birth and descent may be. They must accept Jesus and His atonement.
13. What is the only way to enter the Kingdom of God? John 14:6.
14. Who is the door keeper for the Kingdom of God? John 10:9.
15. Is there any salvation without the shedding of blood? Hebrews 9:22.
16. Who is not a Jew? Romans 2:28.
17. Who only is a Jew? Romans 2:29.
Note: Those who believe that the outward Jews are the chosen people of God and are the children of God without Christ in their hearts, are deceived and make the atonement of Christ of no affect.
18. What has happened to the Jews who rejected Christ? Romans 11:25.
19. Why did the Lord take away the Kingdom of God from the Jews? Matthew 21:43.
Note: They refused to bear fruit; they refused to be active missionary workers; they became selfish and interested in worldly gain.
20. What was the last command that Jesus gave to man? Matthew 28:19-20.
21. Has the Gospel gone to all the world? Colossians 1:23.
22. What happens after the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled? Luke 21:24-27.
Note: When the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled, probation closes, and the Lord sends forth His angels to gather His scattered children from the four points of the earth. The doctrine that the Lord will turn to the outward Jews and evangelize and convert all of them, and that the Word of God again will go out from Jerusalem, is false and unscriptural, and should be rejected.
23. How did the Lord caution us to watch? Luke 21:34-36.
