The Promise of a Messiah

Preview: Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8. Before man fell, the plan of his redemption was made, but when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Galatians 4:4-5.)

1. What did the Lord promise to raise up in Israel? Deuteronomy 18:15.
2. What would happen if He were ignored? Deuteronomy 18:19.

Note: When Jesus came to redeem the race the Jews were looking for the Messiah, but they were thinking in terms of political rule. They were in subjugation to the Romans, and being a strongly nationalistic people, they longed for independence. If Jesus would have accepted the role of an earthly king, they would, no doubt, have accepted Him. One day soon He is coming back to tear down the kingdoms of this world and set up a Kingdom that will never be removed.
